Mozart’s interest in piano duets can be traced back to his childhood when he played them with his sister, Nannerl. The works presented in this programme date from 1782 to 1791, with the F major Sonata K 497 arguably regarded as the greatest piece ever written for the four-hand medium.

Harvey and Helen Davies, well known for their performances of contemporary music, are no less regarded for their interpretation of the classical piano duet repertoire and have a significant number of recordings to their name.
