The market town of South Molton boasts beautifully restored and finely decorated Assembly Rooms dating back to Victorian times. They are above the Pannier Market which is a hive of activity on Thursday and Saturday mornings. The Rooms make a fine setting for a programme of madrigals and church music by amongst others, Thomas Tallis, William Byrd (who was a pupil of Tallis), Gibbons and in particular, movements from Palestrina’s Missa Brevis. Colin Howard directs the Two Moors Festival ‘Renaissance Singers’ in a concert which will add flavour to Sunday lunch - not a roast, but a very good meal.
