Associate Artistic Director, Andreas Haefliger has chosen to launch this year’s Festival with a mix of old and new. His commission of Torsten Rasch’s String Quartet played by the superb Kuss Quartet, will be receiving its World Premiere. With over thirty film scores to his name, Dresden-born Rasch is venturing into the string quartet genre for the first time. A clever craftsman, Haefliger has decided to flank Rasch’s work with Mozart’s beautiful K414 concerto “The Little A major”, arranged by the composer for piano and string quartet, and Brahms’s F minor Piano Quintet, refashioned in 1864 after its original scoring for strings only.

This concert is supported by Exeter & District Classical Music Trust

The performance will be recorded for future broadcast on BBC Radio 3
