The Festival’s Young Musicians Platform competition attracts entries from as far afield as Bournemouth and Gloucester. The standard has risen ever-higher and the winners this year are no exception. It has been interesting following the progress of these previous winners, some of whom appeared at their first audition aged ten. Few children are ready to win a competition at this age and will come back year after year until they have the confidence, technique and above all, love of music which they can communicate with an audience.
