This is the second afternoon of masterclasses in this year’s festival. For those not familiar with what goes on, whether a member of the audience, or a participant, masterclasses are meant to be constructive and even fun. Gone are the days when the professor made the student feel ‘small’. Whether listening or performing, one can learn about different interpretations, explore the way a work was written, its style, its technical difficulties and go home feeling stimulated and satisfied. Masterclasses can be intensely inspiring and give incentive to practise and look at repertoire in a different light.
