Mark Padmore and Paul Lewis are, without doubt, two of Britain's finest musicians whose fame and artistry have taken them across the globe. They come to the Festival to perform one of Schubert's most acclaimed Song Cycles, Schwanengesang the final song of which is claimed to be the last song the composer ever wrote. For Beethoven devotees, Paul Lewis plays one the best-loved sonatas, the Waldstein, dedicated to Count Ferdinand von Waldstein, but the sonata is also known as L'Aurore (The Dawn).
