  Lutoslawski Duo

The Lutoslawski Piano Duo gave a truly memorable performance of Beethoven’s Fifth Symphony (part of the “Beethoven and Biscuits” project) in 2008. Since then, they have toured all over the world to considerable acclaim.

On discovering their recital for the Festival was to be the final event in the Tenth Birthday celebrations, with its theme of countryside, nature and flowers, they came up with an irresistible programme, which makes the most of the remarkable Bösendorfer Imperial Grand piano.

Many will be interested to know that numerous composers wrote their own piano arrangements of orchestral works. Whilst Stravinsky wrote his piano duet version of The Rite of Spring, the two-piano work is by Alexander Tamir. Grieg’s In Autumn is an original piece for piano duo.

The p erformance will end at approximately 9.20pm.

The Globe and the Martlett Inn (2 miles away) are open for supper. Booking essential.

This concert hasbeen arranged in collaboration with Milverton Concert Society.
