The Church Crawl has become a fixture in the Festival diary. Having crawled over Dartmoor two years running, it seemed appropriate to turn the attention to Exmoor churches. For those not in the know, the Crawl follows a pattern: a guided tour, with photos, lasting about forty minutes takes place after which there is a short concert. The day is designed so that people wishing to take in all three churches can enjoy a splendidly scenic drive across stunning moorland country.

The Crawl begins in North Molton, the home of historian, Jonathan Edmunds whose knowledge of not only the church, but the village is considerable. Ann Churchill who lives in Luccombe, has researched much local history. In addition to pointing out many interesting architectural features within the church, she has many anecdotes to tell about past residents. Laurie Hambrook has lived in Dunster since 1991 and has been a churchwarden for seven years. With a keen interest in local history, his knowledge of the church and its surrounding is immense.

The Two Moors Quartet, recently on a Festival Residency, will follow the crawlers to the first two churches and the Pavão Quartet will take over the reins in Dunster.

Each Concert can be booked separately.

This concert is arranged in collaboration with Minehead and West Somerset Arts Society
