There can be no better way to begin the Festival's tenth anniversary programme than with two of Beethoven's masterpieces. Symphony No. 9, written in 1824 displays a remarkable link with his Choral Fantasy written sixteen years earlier. As a result, the works are frequently performed side by side, on this occasion by the Festival's own Chorus, in partnership with the Dartington Community Choir. Colin Howard conducts the fine Orchestra of the Swan, with some of Britain's best known singers.
